  1. November can feel like a bit of an intermission month: though we’re through Halloween, it’s not quite time full holiday magic, either. But at SB Evolution, we think this special time of year is uniquely ripe for cozy activities packed with seasonal splendor. Welcome back to our newsletter! If you’re looking for ways to make this mellow month in Santa Barbara snug, fruitful, and a celebration of all things Fall (while still counting down til Christmas), we’ve got you covered. Here’s what we’re excited to do, explore and create this month. If you like what we’ve gathered, be sure to forward this to a friend and give us a follow on social media! Craft Wholesome Harvest Decor

  2. It’s just about time to toss out those cobwebs and jackolanterns, but don’t reach for the Christmas decor just yet! Even though fewer presents are involved, Thanksgiving is still a wonderful opportunity to spruce up your seasonal decor with gorgeous harvest theming. Plus, everyone loves fall, and it’s not quite over yet! Here’s how to decorate for a charming harvest feel: Swap out pumpkins for gourds. Less specific to Halloween, gourds are perfectly reminiscent of the harvest and add a lovely Fall color palette to any space. If you're in Santa Barbara and wish to elevate your fall decor, consider enlisting gardening services in Santa Barbara to expertly integrate gourds into your landscape. Craft a welcoming wreath. Pour a glass of wine, hot cider or cocoa and tinker together a unique fall wreath for the front door. Get creative and craft with corn husks, gathered leaves, dried citrus, and more! Get a head start on the Thanksgiving table. Worry about the food later; now is a great time to start experimenting with your decor for the

  3. big day. Cinnamon sticks make for excellent name placards, while gathered leaves can become your main centerpiece. Whether planning a date night at home or corralling the kids for weekend activities, crafting with loved ones is a perfect way to celebrate this restful time of year! Prep the Garden for Cooler Weather November’s overlap of harvests is a fun challenge for dedicated gardeners. Here’s what we recommend to stay on top of the changes: Let’s talk temperature. While October still has warm moments, November finally drops down to the low 70s. This means less water escaping your soil, so less time spent watering. Once that first rain hits, turn off the sprinkler system and only water when it’s been dry for two straight weeks.

  4. Plant a magical meadow. In the sunniest part of your garden, sprinkle plant plugs of Carex pansa or C. praegracilis 6 to 12 inches apart, and be sure to include plenty of California poppy. Every few feet, consider sprinkling in summer-blooming perennials too! Spring meadows are uniquely beautiful in SB, so plan ahead to ensure yours blooms especially bright. Let the natural beauty of Santa Barbara inspire your fall decor, with the assistance of gardening services that understand the unique characteristics of this region. Grow cool-weather veggies from seedlings. Cabbage, carrots, chard, kohlrabi, and spinach can happily grow this time of year, even from seedlings. Plant yours now to harvest for holiday meals! Tackle last-minute maintenance. Before winter truly sets in, you’ll want to make your life easier by replacing any rotting fence posts, cutting back ornamental grasses and spraying nectarine trees with lime sulfur. Need some help balancing the various changes? We are always here to discuss your landscaping service needs and options. Reach out any time! Enjoy Santa Barbara’s Packed Community Calendar
