    1. Mishteh A Feast that brings Judgment or Salvation

    3. Mishteh: A feast or banquet often associated with a special occasion Used 44 times in the OT When a mishteh is held, some are saved/blessed and others killed/judged The state of the person attending a mishteh determines the outcome for him The same idea is found in the New Testament with deipnon or gamos

    4. Genesis 19:3, 4 Yet he urged them strongly, so they turned aside to him and entered his house; and he prepared a feast for them, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter;

    5. Mishteh: Ishmael and Isaac divided Genesis 21:8 - 10 And the child grew and was weaned, and Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. Now Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking. Therefore she said to Abraham, Drive out this maid and her son, for the son of this maid shall not be an heir with my son Isaac.

    6. Mishteh: One exalted the other killed Genesis 40:20 - 22 Thus it came about on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants. And he restored the chief cupbearer to his office, and he put the cup into Pharaoh's hand; but he hanged the chief baker, just as Joseph had interpreted to them.

    7. Wicked Nabal holds a mishteh 1Samuel 25:36 Then Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he was holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk; so she did not tell him anything at all until the morning light.

    8. Nabal is judged and Abigail blessed 1Samuel 25:38, 42 About ten days later, the Lord struck Nabal and he died. Then Abigail quickly arose, and rode on a donkey, with her five maidens who attended her; and she followed the messengers of David and became his wife.

    9. 2Samuel 3:20, 30 Then Abner and twenty men with him came to David at Hebron. And David made a feast for Abner and the men who were with him. So Joab and Abishai his brother killed Abner because he had put their brother Asahel to death in the battle at Gibeon.

    10. Isaiah 5:12, 13 Their banquets are accompanied by lyre and harp, by tambourine and flute, and by wine; But they do not pay attention to the deeds of the Lord, Nor do they consider the work of His hands. Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge; And their honorable men are famished, And their multitude is parched with thirst.

    11. Matthew 22:2, 9 The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son. [verses 3-8 The invited guests refuse to come and are judged] Go therefore to the main highways, and as many as you find there, invite to the wedding feast.

    12. Matthew 22:11, 12 But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed in wedding clothes, and he said to him, Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes? And the man was speechless.

    13. Matthew 22:13, 14 Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.

    14. John 13:2 During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him,

    15. 1Corinthians 10:3 - 5 and all ate the same spiritual food; and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ. Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness.

    16. 1Corinthians 10:20, 21 No, but I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God; and I do not want you to become sharers in demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

    17. 1Corinthians 11:17 - 19 But in giving this instruction, I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse. For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that divisions exist among you; and in part I believe it. For there must also be factions among you, so that those who are approved may become evident among you.

    18. 1Corinthians 11:20 - 22 Therefore when you meet together, it is not to eat the Lord's Supper, for in your eating each one takes his own supper first; and one is hungry and another is drunk. What! Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this I will not praise you.

    19. 1Corinthians 11:27, 28 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

    20. 1Corinthians 11:29 - 33 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep. But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

    21. Revelation 19:7, 8 Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready. It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

    22. Revelation 19:9 Then he said to me, Write, 'Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said to me, These are true words of God.

    23. Revelation 19:17, 18 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven, Come, assemble for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and slaves, and small and great.

    24. Revelation 19:21 And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.
