  2. Sainsbury’s and the Environment Statistics • The Basingstoke Depot is one of 23 JS Depots and services 65 stores across S.England • Basingstoke distributes 1.8million cases per week • We employ 850 permanent and agency colleagues • The site was built over 40 years ago

  12. Sainsbury’s and the Environment Waste Segregation Basingstoke Depot aims to :- Segregate its waste into correct waste streams. Keeping the maximum amount of waste out of landfill, is an important part of how this site professionally deals with its waste

  16. Climate Change By 2012 we will reduce the energy we need to run our depots by 25%. By 2012 we will reduce the amount of diesel our vehicles use for our store deliveries by 15%. Waste By 2010 we will have alternative ways to dispose of our waste as opposed to sending it to a rubbish tip. Preventing Pollution We will record all occasions when we pollute or might have polluted the environment so that we can prevent it happening again. Our goal is to control the impact we have on our environment through focusing on …… Water This year we will start to measure the amount of water we use in our operations in order to identify ways of reducing our usage. Working Together This year, we will continue to work with our local communities through charitable projects and donations. Respecting the environment Every year we will improveour environmental performance against the international standard, known as ISO14001.
