HTML Improvements HTML Improvement Section shows following issues – • Title problems: Potential problems with the title tag on your pages, such as missing or repeated page titles. • Meta description problems: Potential problems with duplicate or otherwise problematic meta descriptions. • Non-indexable content: Pages containing non-indexable content, such as some rich media files, video, or images.

  4. Where to get HTML improvement section and how to solve issue • On the Search Console home page, click the site you want. • On the left-hand menu, click Search Appearance, and then click HTML Improvements.

  5. Content Keywords “Content keywords” section shows following things – • 1. What keywords in our content have been identified by Google? • 2. Key phrases which are used on your website • 3. Keyword variations and significance • 4. Top pages where a particular keywords appeared.

  6. Where to get HTML content keyword section • On the Search Console home page, click the site you want. • On the left-hand menu, click Search Appearance, and then click Content Keywords.

  7. Change crawl rate Google allows us to set the rate at which we would like them to crawl our website. Things to note from Crawl Graph:Generally, we would like our website to be crawled as frequently as possible. If, however, there are some disadvantages:Disadvantages of Frequent Crawl Rate: • Google’s frequent crawl rate is apparently slowing down our site. • Frequent crawl rate also consumes lots of hosting space.

  8. Change the crawl rate • Click the gear on the Search Console Home page, click the site you want. • icon , then click Site Settings. • In the Crawl rate section, select the option you want.

Sitemaps The Sitemaps section enables us to view all of the sitemaps that you have added (or Google found) These statistics can be seen by content-type, meaning Web, video, images and news. “Sitemaps” section shows following things – • Errors Google found with your sitemap, as well as warnings about potentially problematic issues. • We reviewed your sitemap and made any changes, • We can resubmit it.

  10. To resubmit a sitemap: On the Search Console home page, click the site you want to troubleshoot. • Under Crawl, click Sitemaps. • Select the sitemap(s) you want to resubmit, and then click the Resubmit sitemap button.

  11. Removing URLs If we need to remove a URL from Google’s index, we can use the Remove URLs feature in Webmaster Tools. This can be quite a very effective tool, but use with extreme care! Only use it to permanently remove a URL.

  12. To remove your content from Google Search: • Open the Remove URLs page. • Click Create a new removal request. • Enter the relative path . • Chose a appropriate option • Click Submit Request.

  13. Fetch as Google To analyze a page’s performance in the search engine results pages, the “Fetch as Google” tool is an excellent resource. Using the Fetch as Google tool we are able to discover how any page on our website appears to the Googlebot. This is very important because we are able to see which areas of a page are not rendering properly for the Googlebot and resolve them. If our webpages look good to the Googlebot, they are more prone to be shown in search results.

  14. Here are the basic steps for Fetch as Google : • On the Webmaster Tools home page, select your site. • In the left-hand navigation, click Crawl and then select Fetch as Google. • In the textbox, enter the path component of a URL on your site that you want Googlebot to retrieve. • From the grey drop-down, choose the type of Googlebot with which you wish to perform a fetch (or fetch and render).
