  1. Shoplet increases sales with HP e-commerce tools

  2. Shoplet.com saw sales of HP printing supplies rise almost 35 percent when they took advantage of HP’s commercial web assets, including a set of best practices and an automatic, real-time feed of up-to-date product information.

  3. Building on previous success Shoplet, a leading online supplier of office and business products, sells to more than 2.5 million individuals, businesses and public-sector customers. The company has maintained growth through economic peaks and valleys alike. And, after taking advantage of e-commerce tools from HP, last year was no exception. When Shoplet CEO, Tony Ellison, saw what HP had to offer, he immediately recognized the opportunities. “I jumped out of my chair,” Ellison said. “My reaction was, I want this. What HP presented had a direct ramification for our business.” Shoplet took advantage of the assets HP offered to update the customer experience on their website. The improved search capability and up-to-date product information has led to greater customer satisfaction and increased sales.

  4. Updated web experience One of the things Shoplet capitalized on was HP’s set of best practices for online sales. Shoplet reviewed the information and applied the principles to their website. It’s now much easier for customers to find what they’re looking for. Shoplet refined the search capabilities of their website to be simpler and more time-efficient for users. Printing supplies are more intuitively grouped so it’s easier to add them to a cart. There’s a clear upgrade path from standard to high-volume print cartridges. And when customers search for HP print cartridges, they’re presented with search results that lead with HP-branded cartridges rather than remanufactured alternatives. These changes have helped convert more shoppers to buyers. Shoplet has also been able to provide more up-to-date information for their customers by integrating HP Product Pulse, an automatic feed of current HP product information, into their website.

  5. With HP Product Pulse, customers can click a link on Shoplet’s product sites and instantly access current HP product overviews, videos, recycling information and other details that help them make educated purchase decisions. And with HP Product Pulse, Shoplet doesn’t have to spend the time and energy to maintain the data because HP updates and feeds the information to their website automatically. Ellison says, “Real-time integration with HP Product Pulse helps us provide the information our customers need. Before we started using this tool, that information would lag behind and be outdated. Now it’s all effortless, it’s real time and—most important—it’s up to date.”

  6. Increased sales The results of Shoplet’s website upgrade were quickly noticeable. The company saw an increase in sales within two months of implementing the changes. And Ellison reports that at this time Shoplet’s sales of Original HP supplies have risen almost 35 percent as a result of the modifications.

  7. The Facts: • The Nilson Report estimates check fraud to be about $20 billion annually. • The Federal Trade Commission reported nearly 9.9 million Americans have been victims of identity theft, consting consumers $5 billion and banks and business $48 billion each year. • The National Check Fraud Center estimates check washing, a specific type of check fraud, costs Americans $815 million each year. • On average, it costs a victim $1,173 and 174 man-hours to get their credit report straightened out.

  8. Everybody wins Shoplet couldn’t be happier with their updated website. The company’s customers save time and get a more intuitive, informative web experience. And Shoplet has been rewarded with happy customers, increased sales and an online store that’s more likely to turn first-time shoppers into repeat buyers. Ellison says, “The customer experience for ordering supplies on our site has vastly improved, which helps us project a better image of a company trying to create a single source for small- and medium-size businesses buying office products.”
