  1. Apple Is Beating ThisOne Smartphone Trend

  2. Apple’s iPhones are currently bucking a negative trend…

  3. Slowing smartphone sales. • According to Gartner, growth of smartphone sales in Q2 2015 were as slow as they were in 2013.

  4. Samsung’s smartphone unit sales dropped 5.3%…

  5. Meanwhile, Apple surged. • The iPhone maker saw its smartphone unit sales increase by 36%.

  6. There are two things contributing to Apple’s growth.

  7. First: Samsung can’t keep up with Apple’s smartphone demand. • 1

  8. • Despite the launch of new S6 models, Samsung's premium phones continued to be challenged by Apple's large-screen iPhones. • - Anshul Gupta • Gartner Research

  9. And…

  10. • Apple's double-digit growth in the high-end segment continued to negatively impact its rivals' premium phone sales and profit margins. Many vendors had to realign their portfolios to remain competitive in the midrange and low-end smartphone segments. • - Anshul Gupta • Gartner Research

  11. In short, Apple has benefited from Samsung’s inability to sell high-end devices.

  12. Second: Apple is winning in China. • 2

  13. While smartphone sales in China are falling… • Apple is moving in the opposite direction. Gartner says the company’s sales increased by 68% in the country in Q2 2015.

  14. Here’s why…

  15. • Beyond the lower-end phone segment, the appeal of premium smartphones will be key for vendors to attract upgrades and to maintain or grow their market share in China."  • - Anshul Gupta • Gartner Research

  16. That’s why it’s good to hear that…

  17. iPhone replacement rates are high. • Yes, even in China.

  18. • Apple recorded strong iPhone replacements in both emerging and mature markets — and particularly in China. • - Anshul Gupta • Gartner Research

  19. While the smartphone market is slowing right now, it’s clear Apple hasn’t been negatively impacted quite yet.

  20. And there’s another company that could benefit from Apple’s current success…

  21.
