  4. OUR CONCRETE SLATE MATERIALS European Sourced Our concrete hard landscaping products are manufactured to very precise standards, with many quality controls to ensure production of a high-quality product. European & Far Eastern Sourced Slate has been used as a hard landscaping product for centuries. Its laminar nature makes it easy to cleave and work. Combining slate with other materials emphasises the qualities and attractiveness of both. Slate can be used effectively to form a break band in larger areas of natural stone. The dark, neutral tones of the slate accentuate the warmer colours of the feldspars and quartzes in the granite. One of these controls requires that the raw materials (including graded aggregates, Portland cement, water, colouring pigments, and usually admixtures) are accurately proportioned. Available in a multitude of colours, textures and finishes. HERE IS JUST A TASTE OF SOME OF OUR MATERIALS. FOR MORE SWATCHES AND SPECIFICATION CODES VISIT STONEPAVE.CO.UK Slate is available in a range of colours, finishes and sizes and can look equally effective when used as paving, banding or even as part of a water feature with a unique effect. PORPHYRY GRANITE LIMESTONE European & Far Eastern Sourced This volcanic rock is formed during a slow cooling process of igneous material, giving it high compressive strength and density. QUARTZITE European & Far Eastern Sourced Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed largely of mineral calcite, the balance being made up by silica, flint, sand and clay. European & Far Eastern Sourced Granite is an igneous rock which has cooled slowly, allowing distinctive crystal patterns to form. The use of Porphyry as a hard landscaping material dates back as far as Babylonian times and has had a long tradition of use throughout Europe. Indeed, Porphyry was the preferred paving stone for the famous Roman roads. European & Far Eastern Sourced Quartzite is much harder than its parent rock, sandstone. It is formed from quartz sandstone that has come into contact with deeply buried magmas which change its state through heat and pressure. Most granites consist of three minerals which can be easily distinguished: The primary source of calcite is most commonly marine organisms. Limestone is quarried from places which, millions of years ago, would have formed the floor of a shallow area of the sea. Limestone is formed close to the earth’s surface and captures fossilised plant and animal life. With its warm earth tones of grey, brown, rust, buff and violets, Porphyry is a unique combination of natural beauty and durability. • Quartz: a clear or greyish ‘glassy’ mineral • Mica: a soft black mineral which splits into thin flakes • Feldspar: a mineral which occurs in a range of colours Quartzite is a very strong stone but is usually not found in large bodies suitable for quarrying. Colours range from silvery grey with hints of green, pink and red through to a shimmery black. All have a distinctive sparkle from the tightly interlocking grains of quartz contained within. Hard limestone will accept a high gloss polished, honed or flamed finish. With striking tones such as whites, beiges, blues and browns, limestone creates a tough yet refined surface that appeals to all construction applications wishing to blend durability with style. From off whites and silvers to black, reds, blues and greens, the choice of colour in granite is endless. Available in a variety of size and finish such as flamed, fine picked, honed, polished, chiselled, sawn and rough punched. A single piece of granite can be transformed to suit individual requirements and design needs. BEDDING & MORTARS European Sourced We offer mortars for bedding, bonding and jointing which combine to form systems that meet hard landscaping design’s every need. CAST STONE CLAY YORKSTONE European Sourced Cast Stone is a concrete masonry product simulating natural cut stone. It is used in architectural and bespoke landscaping applications, is available in a multitude of colours and textures, and is ideal for feature paving application. European Sourced Clay is shaped and then fired in ovens to provide the very hard and durable unit that stands the test of time. British Sourced Yorkstone is a term for a variety of sandstone, specifically from quarries in Yorkshire which have been worked since medieval times. SEALANTS & CLEANERS European Sourced A comprehensive range of cleaning and sealing products and services that solve a host of issues with natural stone, concrete and tiles for both internal and external applications. Supply and install options available. The origin of the clay itself determines colour, which ranges from cream to very dark brown, with the majority of bricks a reddish colour. Firing temperatures can also influence brick colour. Yorkstone is a tight-grained, Carboniferous sedimentary rock. The stone consists of quartz, mica, feldspar, clay and iron oxides. The colour of Yorkstone depends on the minerals within its makeup and differs throughout the quarries from which it is mined. We also source sandstone from other locations globally. Clay is a popular choice for its qualities of colour retention, unmatched durability and strength, design options and low maintenance.
