One of the best ways to defend your country is to have a strong defence procurement system in place. A government’s defence procurement system is primarily aimed at ensuring that its military does not fall behind technologically. It also strives to support job creation in the defence sector by encouraging private companies to invest in research and development projects for military purposes. A strong defence procurement system can help a country innovate faster than its adversaries do which leads to better security for that nation’s citizens as well as stability for the region around The Defence Procurement Tender Board (DPTB) is an organisation that is responsible for overseeing defence procurement activities in Singapore. The Board was established in 1973 to act as the central procurement agency of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). It purchases and manages all aspects of military equipment, technology and services on behalf of the SAF. The DPTB plays a vital role in ensuring that our defence capability remains world-class. They are tasked with purchasing new weapons, equipment and systems for the SAF’s military training establishments, operational units and public agencies such as the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
