  1. Alcohol is one of the most commonly abused substances worldwide. It might be because of its legal status in a number of countries. Frequent and continuous use of alcohol over long period of time leads to alcohol addiction. Alcohol being a central nervous system (CNS) depressant slows down the functions of brain and spinal cord.
