ABOUT USHistory of Wyllie Taekwondo Self-Defence Academy • The original Wyllie Martial Arts business started as Wyllie Taekwondo, founded by 9th dan and father of Steve & Chris Wyllie, Grandmaster Greg Wyllie in the late 1980s. Greg had a judo background (doing judo since he was 10 years old), but focused on the art of taekwondo. He was a pioneer of the sport in Australia and in the world, attracting thousands of students right after becoming an instructor. He managed to single handedly promote taekwondo throughout hundreds of schools, many of whom we are still participating in our programs today. He was the perfect mentor and coach for two of his three sons, Steve & Chris Wyllie, who started their journey with Taekwondo as soon as they could walk- about 25 years later they are still training and have picked up several other disciplines along the way, including: Boxing, Kickboxing, BJJ and KravMaga. After a lifetime of martial arts training, Steve & Chris are now extensively qualified in martial arts & fitness, including attaining 5th Dan & 4th Dan Black Belt in TKD, Tactical KravMaga instructors certificates, Strike Fit Boxing & Kickboxing Coaches, Cert III & IV in Personal Training, Gold Medallists/Competitors at a State/National level in TKD, Kyokushin Karate & BJJ.
