  5. Facts to Know-- • Church of England—the official church in England during the 1600s (and today!) • Puritans—group that didn’t like some of the practice of the Church, but wanted to purify it • Separatists—group that didn’t like some of the practices of the Church and wanted to separate

  7. and Saints—pushed by persecution and troubles; pulled by freedom for their religion Strangers—pushed by money troubles; pulled by economic opportunity in New World

  8. What About You? • What rights do you have? • What would you have to lose to feel a push to move away from your homeland? • What kind of pull would it take?

  9. War wipes out your home. --Push factor You want to join your family and friends who live in another land. --Pull factor

  10. Push or Pu l l? • Stand if the factor would make you consider leaving your homeland. • Raise your left hand if the factor affected the Saints and Strangers. • Put your right hand on your head if the factor is a Push. Leave your right hand down if it is a Pull.
