  2. Line Definition: A line is a fundamental mark or stroke used in drawing in which the length is longer than the width. Two connected points form a line and every line has a length, width, and direction if it is straight. • Line give direction. It can set the mood of a picture or an object in the picture. Lines can be horizontal, vertical or curved. The can give an object structure or the feeling of being calm.

  3. Tone Definition: is light and dark.  Light reveals, shows the world to us, and shadow gives meaning to the things we see. • Tone is the different shades in the picture. Darker tones can give a more mysterious mood compared to a lighter tone giving a happy mood. Tone can also emphasize an object or make it appear closer as well as farther away.

  4. Color Definition: Color can play a large role in the elements of design with thecolor wheel being used as a tool, and color theory providing a body of practical guidance to color mixing and the visual impacts of specific color combination. • The color of a picture can give it feeling (ex happy, sad, depressing, etc.). It can identify an object or make it stand out more than other parts of the picture.

  5. Texture Definition: Meaning the way a surface feels or is perceived to feel. Texture can be added to attract or repel interest to an element, depending on the pleasantness of the texture. • The texture of a picture can be shown by the detail given. It makes it so you have an idea of what the picture would feel like. A picture could look soft, rough, wet, smooth, etc.

  6. Shape Definition: In design, space is concerned with the area deep within the moment of designated design, the design will take place on. For a two-dimensional design space concerns creating the illusion of a third dimension on a flat surface. • Shapes make up the picture. It could be normal shapes that we know like squares or it could be a shape we have never seen before. They create objects and at detail.

  7. Form Definition: Form is any three dimensional object. Form can be measured, from top to bottom (height), side to side (width), and from back to front (depth). • Form makes the photo look 3D. Even though we know that the picture is flat and a 2D image, form gives us the allusion that it is 3D. It makes the image look more realistic.

  8. Size Definition: is how big or small something is. In design, size can function, it can attract, or it can organize. • Size could be realistic or it could be over exaggerated. It could show you the actual size of an object or could be trying to prove a point by making something stand out.

  9. Space Definition:  space is concerned with the area deep within the moment of designated design, the design will take place on. For a two-dimensional design space concerns creating the illusion of a third dimension on a flat surface. • Space is the amount of room left in the picture. Sometimes it could be crowded and have a lot going on. The artist would do this to take up space in the image. At other times there might be space left open to make the image look less crowded.

  10. Balance Definition: is a state of equalized tension and equilibrium, which may not always be calm. • Balance is when a picture is equal on each side. This doesn’t always mean they are symmetrical. Sometimes you could have rocks on one side so to balance it out u put clouds on the other. Its evening out the space to make the image better.

  11. Emphasis Definition: is a principle of art which occurs any time an element of a piece is given dominance by the artist. In other words, the artist makes part of the work stand out, in order to draw the viewer's eye there first. • Emphasis is when you make one thing in the picture stand out. Usually the rest of the image is blurry while the one thing you are emphasizing is standing out from the rest of the photo.

  12. Proportion Definition: Using the relative size of elements against each other can attract attention to a focal point. When elements are designed larger than life, scale is being used to show drama. • When something is blown out of proportion, it is way bigger in the photo then it would be realistically. It is a specific color or size to draw attention to it.

  13. Repetition Definition: the reusing of the same or similar elements throughout your design. • Repetition is when the artist draws the same thing over and over to make a photo. It shows the importance of what is being repeated and it used to make a amazing picture.

  14. Unity Definition: When all elements are in agreement, a design is considered unified. • Unity is when all the element work together to make the perfect picture. It is when nothing is out of place and everything is involved to make the best image possible.

  15. Contrast Definition: The state of being strikingly different from something else. • Contrast may seem similar to tone but in a way it is different. Tone is more the shade (light and dark) but contrast can be described as different. When parts of a photo are completely different than other parts. Sometimes it is used to blend picture but other time it is used to make objects stand out.

  16. Proximity Definition: Is where items are placed in relation to each other. • This is when you have the items in more than one picture spaced out differently to make the images look different.

  17. Typography Definition: helps balance the visual structure of your design between the content and the visuals. When words of different color and different size are put together to make an image. The word are usually about the image they are creating.
