  1. 5th grade Gazette Woodstock Elementary Congratulations to our 5th grade Students of the Month: Brown: Blake Adkins Engram: Everett Reynolds Hughes: Marcy Stephenson Mauldin: Sherman Etienne Mann: Kailani Oglesby Holder: Hamilton Parker Morrie: AndiDircks Fall Baskets: Please donate an item/items for our Fall fundraiser. We will be creating three baskets to auction off at our Fall Festival: a Winter basket, a LEGO basket, and a doggie basket. Please send in all donations by October 14th. Thanks!! Please sign the back of the Behavior Card for week 2. Since last week was Fall break, we did not count that as a week. The 5th grade Quarter Market will be taking place on October 14th. Students will be able to make or bring things in to “sell” with their Behavior Bucks. Students will use their BB to “buy” items. We will be sending home more info on Monday. 5th grade Curriculum News Reading: Continue Reading Contracts, Sequencing, Context Clues and Cause And Effect Math: Fractions, Decimals, Percents, Division, Elapsed time, Geometry, Measurement We will continue reviewing skills from Lessons 1-30 and test after every 5 SAXON lessons. Language Arts:  We will be starting research skills next week.  At the end of the month we will begin our book project.  The books will be completed at school and will be due the week before Thanksgiving.  We will not be doing Shurley English for those weeks .    Science: Classification Social Studies: TURN in your 3 CHOICES for approval for your INVENTION PROJECT IF you haven’t already by OCT. 4. IF you are doing the SS FAIR instead, please be ready to show us your 1st draft of your paper and your sketch of your tri-board on OCT. 5. Additionally: We are wrapping up our Civil War Unit and beginning with our Reconstruction Unit. • . Important Dates to Remember: Oct. 4 Boosterthon Kick Off (PTA fundraiser) Oct. 6 Read for the Record -Llama Llama Red Pajama (students must pay $1.00 to wear pajamas) Chick-fil-A Night Oct. 10 Furlough Day (No School) Oct. 13 Boosterthon Fun Run Menchies Night Oct. 14 Report Cards / Quarter Market Oct. 19 Canyon’s Night Upcoming Field Trip: Cobb Energy Center Nov. 9th Operatic Performance of Brer Rabbit Stay tuned for more info… We will be doing Benchmark testing in Rdg, LA, and Math next week.
