  3. Early life of Galileo Galilei. Galileo was born in Pisa Italy. His father was VincenzoGalilei, a famous lutenist composer and music theorist. His mother was Giulia Ammannati. He was the first born and had five other siblings .

  4. Early life of Galileo Galilei When Galileo was only eight his family moved to Florence but he was left with Jacopo Borghini for two years. Galileo became a lutenist just like his father. A lutenist is a man/woman who plays a lute. lute

  5. Career as a scientist. When he was younger he wanted to be a priest but his father sent him to Medical school at the University of Pisa studying for a Medical degree. In 1581, when he was studying Medicine, he noticed a swinging chandelier, it seemed by, comparison with his heartbeat, that the chandelier took the same amount of time to swing back and forth, no matter how far it was swinging. He compared this chandelier to two pendulums.

  6. Career as a scientist. Through this discovery the invention of clocks with pendulums was invented.Galileo created a thermoscope (forerunner of the thermometer). In 1586 he published a book about design of a hydrostatic balance he had invented. Thermoscope

  7. Family Life. In the university of Padua he met Marina Gambi. She became his mistress and bore three children two Daughters, one Virgina and Livia and a son Vincenzo.

  8. Astronomy • Galileo told people that the world revolves around the sun and not vice versa. • Because of different religious beliefs Galileo was banned from the church. • After this Galileo stopped showing what he was working upon.

  9. Death After suffering fever and heart palpitations Galileo died on the 8th of January 1642 aged 77. He was buried in the church his ancestor Galileo Bonaiuti was buried. Tomb of Galileo
