  5. DX News • ZS8TMarion Island - Like the famous Bordeaux of the same name Petrus is very hard to get. The ZS8T web site indicates that he is not yet QRV but will be “real soon now” • 4W8R Timor Leste is QRV until June 24. The Spanish team is easily workable on CW, RTTY and SSB from the West Coast. Try 15, 17 and 20 meters between 3-7 zulu.

IDXC Visalia • IDXC 2009 (our 60th year) will be held April 17- April19, 2009 at the Visalia Holiday Inn • The Holiday Inn began taking reservations on Monday, June 2 at 10:00 AM local and sold out the first day. Comfort Suites (The old John Jay) is also sold out. • Let’s make 2009 the best IDXC EVER!!!

  8. NCDXC Election • Elections of Officers and Directors will occur tonight and take effect at the July 19 picnic. • Officers nominated by the Board are: • President Craig Bradley AE6RR • Vice President Risto Kotalampi W6RK • Secretary Russ Bentson K6KLY • Treasurer Jose Picazo Jr. WT6X

  9. NCDXC Election • To date, I have received no additional candidates in response to my email request for nominations. I will request additional nominations for each of the officer slots after I first introduce the Board’s slate of candidates. • Now let me say just a few words on behalf of the candidates nominated by the board.

  10. President: Craig Bradley AE6RR • Craig resides in San Jose and is a Program Manager at a Sunnyvale electronics systems house. He was first licensed in 1961 as WV6SVW and earned his General class ticket in the same year. Craig's allowed his license to lapse and was re-licensed with an Extra Class ticket as AE6RR in 2004. His hobbies are model trains and ham radio in a big way! • He operates from a stealth installation at his home QTH and can also utilize his remote station located at his vacation home in Truckee Ca.

  11. President: Craig Bradley AE6RR • Craig holds DXCC, WAC, WAS, and is currently Secretary of NCDXC. He is also active in NCCC and a member of the Visalia working group. He is most at home DXing or contesting using SSB but both CW and RTTY are growing on him. • Craig is an excellent communicator and follows through on his commitments. He is an excellent candidate to steward NCDXC to new heights as President for 2008/2009.

  12. Vice President: Risto Kotalampi W6RK • Risto resides in Hayward and is an IT wizard with an internet company in San Francisco. He has a small server farm at his home and is webmaster of both the NCDXC and the International DX Convention web sites • Risto was first licensed as OH6EE in Finland in 1983 He came to the US in 1996 and sat for ALL of the US license exams in February 2004 earning an Extra Class ticket. He has been active as W6RK ever since.

  13. Vice President: Risto Kotalampi W6RK • He operates mostly CW with wire antennas and enjoys DXing and contest operation from W6YX as well as spending time with his family.. • Risto holds DXCC (mixed and CW), WAC, WAS and is a member of NCCC, FISTS and is currently Vice President of NCDXC. Risto has performed extremely well at the difficult task of providing an excellent program at each NCDXC meeting.

  14. Secretary: Russ Bentson K6KLY • Russ resides in Belmont and is a RF systems engineer for a major local cellular/PCS service provider. He was first licensed in 1957 and operates on all bands from 160 meter thru 10.3 GHz. He especially enjoys 6 meter DXing where he has way more than 90 confirmed countries!!! • He is an active DXer, and holds #1 DXCC Honor Roll and 8 Band DXCC.

  15. Secretary: Russ Bentson K6KLY • Russ is very active in the club and can always be found helping out at various club activities such as Pacificon, and the DX Convention in Visalia. • Russ has the background and drive needed to be an excellent candidate for club Secretary

  16. Treasurer: Jose Picazo WT6X • Jose resides in Livermore and is an entrepreneur in the Internet security space. • He was first licensed in March 2007 and earned his Extra Class ticket in April of the same year. He enjoys SSB and RTTY HF operation. • Jose has two sons, both licensed hams, and is an instrument rated/multi engine rated pilot.

  17. Treasurer: Jose Picazo WT6X • He also enjoys sailing his Swan 48 up and down the California coast and even finds time to producea superb California Merlot. • Jose has the business background required to manage NCDXC financial resources.

  18. NCDXC Election • Does anyone else wish to run for any of the officer positions? • Please introduce yourself, name the office you wish to run for and take a few minutes to tell us about your qualifications.

  20. NCDXC Election • The club’s Bylaws and Procedures call for the election of 3 Directors. One Director slot is always filled by the past club President. • The Board’s nominations for Directors are: • Steve Jones N6SJ 2007/2008 Treasurer • Jim Abraham W6EB 2007/2008 Director • John Eisenberg K6YP 2007/2008 Past Prez.

  21. Board Nominees for Director • Jim Abraham W6EBJim is an active NCDXC member, DXer and contester. He is currently an NCDXC Director and a Visalia team leader. • Steve Jones N6SJSteve is also an active NCDXC member and active DXer with over 325 counties to his credit. He is currently NCDXC secretary and co-chairman of the 2009 International DX Convention. • John Eisenberg K6YPJohn is a past VP and currently is President of NCDXC. He enjoys DXing and has 315 countries confirmed. John will co-chair the DX Convention with Steve in 2009

We need an Editor for the DXer • Phil Steffora K6PTS who published a couple of years of absolutely stellar DXers had to step down for personal reasons. • We are looking for a person to publish the DXer. The DXer brings a great deal of enjoyment to NCDXC members near and far. • Would you like to carry on Phil’s work?

  25. NCDXC Picnic • When: Saturday, July 19, 11am - 2:30pm • Where: New Location -- Heritage Oaks Park 1305 McKenzie Ave just off Miramonte at Portland in Los Altos (Google it) • What: Your friends plus hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings. • Cost: Nada….. It just doesn’t get any better.

Your NCDXC Dues are Due • NCDXC dues are: • $24 for individuals • $39 for families • $16 for absentee members • You will shortly receive a mail/email dues request: • Please update your contact information if necessary by filling out the attached form. • Mail dues to NCDXC, PO Box 608, Menlo Park, CA 94026 • Be sure to put your call sign on your check • Or give your check and completed form to an NCDXC officer
