  3. Conflict diamonds are sold to fund armed conflict and civil war. • Profits from the trade in conflict diamonds, worth billions of dollars, were used by warlords and rebels to buy arms during the devastating wars in Zimbabwe

  4. Fighting • Diggers are attack by helicopters shooting at them • Hunted by dogs • People who were caught were tortured • They bury bodies in fields • From 2008-2009 the population decreased 20.54%

  5. Economy • The economy is ruined • 100 trillion Zimbabwe dollars are equal to 3 U.S. dollars

  6. Politics • Zimbabwe has fallen into economic chaos and hyper-inflation under the poor leadership of Robert Gabriel Mugabe • The government leads most of the attacks on diggers • Authorities deny the killings
