Low Coverage of SHP • Health checks are carried out for only 10% of the children • Children are not given spectacles • Deworming medicines are given only to 19% of total enrolment. • Iron folic acid tablets are provided to only 9% children. • This above position is also supported by MI findings.

  26. MI Findings • District Covered : East District • Positive features : • Hot cooked meal is served in all the schools. • 2. Quality of food is reported as good and children are happy with quality of the food in 37 schools (92.5 %). • 3. All 40 schools are receiving food-grains on a regular basis. The MI found stocks of more than one month’s requirement in majority of schools (65%).

  27. Areas of Concern • Teachers and parents observe that quantity is inadequate in cases of children of classes VII and VIII. • Rice is not delivered at school level, schools are lifting the foodgrains. • Cooking cost is not disbursed in advance. Disbursement of cooking cost is always delayed. Schools received the cooking cost of 2010 in February-March, 2011. • As the area is prone to heavy rainfall hence in each schools they need a shade where students can take their meal.

  28. Contd.. • 5. There is no roaster of parents for daily monitoring of MDMS. • 6.There is no register for recording daily attendance, i.e. how many children actually took meal on a particular day. • In 26 (65 % ) number of schools Health card is maintained for each child.
