Parents´ Association’s Objectives • We work for the best working environment for the students – our children • Defend and promote the interests of the students and the parents in the board of the school • All Associations are federated in Interparents • Interparents is member of the Board of Governors • Admin Board members of ESB

  4. Decision making process at each individual school ADMIN BOARD- Chaired by Secretary General Educational Councils- PEC, SEC, JEC(no longer next year) and SAC *all councils contain Director, teachers, staff, students and PAC

  5. Aim of these councils is to promote optimum conditions for effective teaching. Working groups can be set up and policies can be established. Parents, pupils, teachers, administration and management are all represented. -Organisation of the school year -The Anti bullying program set up -School policy (how it affects the children, the parents and the teachers) -New proposals (i.e. changes to be made to the playground, changes to how the children are picked up on Tuesday afternoons And changes in educational support structure.) -Language section issues Educational CouncilsKemi & Tina(PEC) Gordana(SEC)

School Councils PEC – Primary Education Council (matters concering Primary) SEC – Secondary Education Council (matters concerning Secondary) * each council includes 3 PAC members JEC – Joint Education Council (matters concerning both Primary and Secondary) * no longer take place next year SAC – School Advisory Council (preparatory for Admin Board, no decisions made, only to advise) *includes 2 PAC members

IPSSG Kemi Obakin • Founded in 1997 and represents Dutch International Secondary Schools. • Almere, Amsterdam, Arnhem, Eindhoven, Groningen, The Hague, Hilversum, Maastricht, Oegstgeest, Rotterdam, Breda, Enschede. • Financial, educational, academical issues eg. Evaluation of the IB-diploma at universities. • PAC involved in regular meetings.

  8. InterparentsJoy Prieto IP is an organisation formed from representatives from all PA's and European Schools. Members of this committee represent parents in meetings /workgroups of the BoG in Brussels. Issues dealt with can involve the whole school or just sections and range from financial, administrative to development and reform of the E.BaC. The IP is important as it has a voice and can influence important decisions.

  18. Procedures for dealing with accidents and illnesses • Problem issues - • Informing parents • Writing reports • Absence of the school nurse or trained medical person • Proposal of a full-time nurse

Safety in the Primary Playground • Problem issues - - Safety on the playground P3-5 - Accidents on the climbing frame - The Primary gate • More teachers monitoring the activities. • The playground equipment will be changed. The funds are available in budget yr 2014. • New safety procedure on Tuesday afternoons regarding the Primary gate.

  20. Anti-Bullying Program • Workgroup was formed • We made a review of the policy • Comments on policy were sent to school management • Proposals of the policy were made • Proposed the KiVa anti-bullying program, possible in 2014/2015.

  21. School Party Planning • Problem Issues - Lack of information of the first school party in 2012/2013 Parents were not informed in time • PAC asked for a school party policy

Canteen Caroline Mattingley • Introduction to Barbara and Franco who run LunaRossa. • Pre-paid hot lunches for nursery and primary school pupils. • Pre-paid tickets available for hot meals for older primary school pupils and for secondary school pupils. • Menus available on PA website. • Volunteers required to help serve hot lunches to nursery and primary school pupils (30% discount available). • PA website pages for canteen & hot lunches: http://europeanschool-parents.nl/activities/canteen/ http://europeanschool-parents.nl/activities/ hot-lunches/

  23. Extra Curricular Activities Caroline Mattingley • Both students and parents can sign-up for activities. • Sign-up day will be Friday 20th September. • PA membership is required. Fee (€25 per family) must have been paid. • Last year’s list is currently on PA site as classes still to be confirmed. • More volunteers required to run extra curricular activities. • Feed back about current classes and interest in new classes welcome. • Please take a look at the new extra curricular activities webpage: http://europeanschool-parents.nl/families/extracurrilar-activities/

  24. Communication with Petten Staff Committee and Petten Site Cesar Chenel Ramos • Circulation of PAC information among the concerned staff at JRC site. • Joint ES Bergen PAC – IET Petten CLP meetings. • Coordinated actions between CLP and PAC and involvement of IET management.

From Alkmaar • Private Taxi service (Taxi 072) – pick up at pupils home • 8 students use this service • PAC has contact details • Daily public bus with Connexxion (#606) from Alkmaar central station to ES Bergen • PAC has contract with Connexxion • Abonnement on Connexxion website • Mainly Secondary students use this service

P5 cycling Proficiency Test • PAC has organized this together with VVN with all P5 pupils during last 2 years – great success! • P5 teachers will be covering 8 VVN brochures (Jeugd Verkeerskrant) with questions and answers. VVN brochures will be translated into English and French • Veiligverkeernederland.nl website, to prepare all P5 students • ESB will participate with all P5 classes “Dode Hoek/Blind Angle Project together with all Bergen Primary schools held yearly at Gemeente Yard • Written Traffic Exam and Cycling Proficiency Test: dates will follow • VVN diplomas May 2013 • VVN-contacts/Verkeersouders European School : Sophie Forner and Yolanda Doogan

Social Integration Alex Harvey-Bistacchi Welcome Committee - • Parent contacts in different language sections for new parents • Provide them with important information to settle into the NL and ESB Host Family Program- • Working closely with ES Brussel schools to find families for exchange students from various schools • 2 S4F students from Brussels 3 coming in Nov. Coffee mornings- • To be held on a regular basis for parents *1st - September 23rd at 9:00 Events- • Help organize fund raisers, class parties, holiday celebrations, school events with school staff

Previous year’s achievements: • Involvement in new canteen company to continue to offer hot lunches/meals • Schedules in Secondary • Playground safety • Events (PAC party, Euromarkt, 50th anniv.) • Parent reps meetings • P5 Cycling Exam • Creation Of Welcome Committee • Involvement in Meetings • PAC, SEC, PEC, JEC , SAC, Admin Board, Management , IP and other external organisation (IPSSG) • Anne Frank Exhibition • Support to Libraries • Host Families program (end of year)

Objectives 2013-2014 • 100% of all parents/guardians PA members. • Work with the school fees in ES system • IP work • Checking the working environment • Continue improving the playgrounds • Cycling diploma for P5 • Organising and subsidising educational and sports events in cooperation with school. IPSSG trip to R'dam • Euromarkt/Open Day (2nd term, before June) • Anti-Bullying program (KiVa) • Create Networking Group for parents Continue what we are doing...
