  2. Underground Rescues Some Jews were Transported by helpful others underground by railroads to organizations that helped them. They fed and took care of them.

  3. Underground Rescues Some were filled with anywhere from 1,600 to 14,000 in one organization. There were over 10,000 camps underground.

  4. Underground Rescues Sometimes the dead were hung in hammocks underground to be set out of the way.

  5. Underground Rescues When Jews were being taken to Underground organizations they would have to memorize Catholic prayers and dress in regular or Nazi uniforms in order to not get caught.

  6. Underground Rescues Underground was also a good shelter from bombing in Germany.

  7. America’s Role… On December 7, 1941 Japan attacked the United states at Pearl Harbor.

  8. America’s Role… Four days later Hitler declared war on the United States.

  9. America’s Role… All men in America were sent to fight. So women had to take charge of the country.

  10. America’s Role… America and the Soviet Union were Allies.

  11. America’s Role… Women working in factories had to make supplies for both Allies.
