  2. History of the Carnival Mask • Worn in Venetian Carnival. • Takes place in Venice, Italy • The Venetian Carnival began in 1162 to celebrate the victory of the Republic over Ulrico. • 1268-1st time masquerade masks were used at the carnival.

  4. One of the venetian carnival masks- The Bauta • White mask that covers the whole face& worn with a black cloak & tricorn hat • Worn by ladies & gentlemen • Hid the identity of the person who was wearing it

  5. One of the venetian carnival masks-The Moretta • Black velvet, oval shaped mask that covered all but the outer area of the face • Worn by women visiting convents • Attached to face by a button held in place by the woman’s teeth

  6. One of the venetian carnival masks-The Volto-Larva • Like the bauta • White mask that covers the whole face, worn with cloak & tricorn • Allowed for wearing to breathe easier out of & drink from without having to remove mask, therefore keeping identity

How the masks are made • White cardboard(Open the middle of the pack), a pencil to draw half face mask contour, cut oblique Line. • Namely, get half face mask. • Another laser paper a (Open), middle (colored face.),Pencil painted mask decorative pattern, In order to prevent shear fault, Pre cut portions can be inclined to A line marking. • Carefully cut oblique section, yields the desired patterns. • to obtain the half face mask decorative patterns. • The laser paper patterns, covering the half face mask, carefully opened the back adhesive and Paste.
