Next phase for value chains Operational • Getting ready for the Evaluation of PIM • Re-organizing project activities and finding common pool resources • How we start with one example of the hub • Selection of location • Who will lead and who will actively participate Next Steps • Maximo: Will develop an outline of what is needed and division of labor for the group (be sure to include impact pathways) • Matthias: Organize tools, preliminary matrix for discussion based on what we have in the web • Derek & Dietmar: Definition of a hub: team of researchers (focal points to PIM) working together and with partners to mainstream work being done under Flagship 5 and to build capacities (Regional team and across CPRs) – not short term fire fighting • Andre: Potential concept note for LAC – coordinate options • Mark Lundy: other potential option • Iheanacho: Possible option in Africa • Maximo:Agrodep type of model • Alistair: Potential of a hub in Asia

Next phase for value chains Next Steps • Maximo: Concept note on policies in value chains • Maximo: organize tools to resolve bottlenecks • Jason: Developing a typology of tools. • Teunis (facilitate): Potential EC-Multi center proposal: Link to proposal on hubs and policies. Can we get buying from other CRps and clear commitments. Thematic: • Using value chains in measuring incentives and linking it to models • Focus on bringing solutions to bottlenecks and tools developed to focus on farmer associations or any horizontal coordination mechanism • Design interventions with the different tools and solutions to generate better collective action on farmer groups • Main outcome is to generate the necessary economies of scale

Maximo: Next meeting we also bring them for the second day Lundy: concept note on how we can do this to include in proposals Promoting Impact: • Mechanisms to promote and mainstream use of tools developed: • Strategy for mainstreaming across CGIAR – series of seminars • Strategy for mainstreaming across cooperating agencies – for example FtF • Strategy to mainstream it across implementers (NGOs, private sector, etc.)
