  2. Who We Are . . . A 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides career services to 1+ million Ohio residents who are: • Veterans who served honorably • Active duty military personnel • Members of the National Guard or Reserves • . . . plus the spouse & children of Ohio troops who are deployed outside of Ohio

  3. Who We Are . . . A network of 60 local career centers in 38 counties that are: • Located in AMVETS posts, VA hospitals, Veterans Service Commission offices and Ohio One-Stop offices • Equipped with classrooms, computers and Internet access • Staffed by volunteers and/or paid staff who are trained as career coaches

  5. What We Do . . . We do not replace or compete with existing programs that serve veterans We work with organizations that provide career, training and employment related services to veterans, including: • Ohio LVERs and DVOPS • County Veterans Service Commissions • Other veterans organizations and government agencies • Colleges, schools and other training organizations • Employers and public/private job placement organizations

What We Do . . . • Career assessment and exploration assistance so vets can make good career choices • Training to help vets develop the work-related skills employers are looking for • Assistance with civilian licensing and certification that verifies that vets have the skills employers want • Job readiness preparation to help vets dress, act and speak the way employers expect (continued . . .) Provide career, training and employment services, including:

What We Do . . . • Resume and cover letter writing to help vets market themselves to employers • Job search training to help vets maximize their job search effectiveness • Interview coaching so vets know what to expect when they interview for jobs • Referral to Ohio LVERs and DVOPS for job placement assistance • Referral to other veteran, government or social services organizations for additional assistance vets may need (. . . continued)

What We Have Achieved . . . • Over 4,000 veterans have registered for AMVETS Career Center services • Over 2,500 veterans have registered for Mindleaders training; They have completed more than 30,000 units of instruction • Over 300 veterans have earned civilian licenses or certifications in more than 50 career fields • Hundreds of veterans have found employment through referral to Ohio LVERs and DVOPS Since the first local career center opened in February 2004,

Affiliate Career Centers . . . • Affiliate career centers are governed by their respective state AMVETS departments and operate independently of AMVETS Career Centers, Inc. • Current affiliate career centers exist in: • Buffalo, NY – Love Center (Catholic Church) • Buffalo, NY – VAMC • Chicago, IL – St. Leo’s Vet Shelter (Catholic Church) • Marion, IL – VAMC • Springfield, IL – AMVETS Dept Headquarters • Nashville, TN – Operation Stand Down Nashville
