  1. Origami Writing Simulation and the Writing Process

  2. Inquiry Questions • How can games/simulations impact the teaching of writing? • How can games/simulations create real world writing events? • How can games/simulations engage students in the act of writing?

  3. Materials • Plus/Delta Comment Sheet • 2 pieces of origami • Scissors • Ruler • Colored Pencils • Sheets of 8 ½ x 11 paper

  4. Process – Step 1 • Reverse engineer origami in your group. • Write detailed and precise instructions on how to fold your origami. (30 minutes) • Suggested Roles: Time Keeper, Recorder, Engineer, Quality Control

  5. Process – Step 2 • Pass written instructions to next group • Take written instructions and fold the origami described • Make a list of observations about the instructions and struggles with understanding the instructions. • For example: Step 2 was difficult to understand because….,

  6. Process – Step 3 • Return written instructions to the original group with comment sheet • Revise written instructions and write a reflection on the process

  7. Process – Extension • Pass revised written instructions to another group and fold origami using the revised instructions
