Brentwood HS Counseling Center Services • Annual review of each student’s educational progress and course selection • Help students learn about various careers and career planning • Help develop students personal and social growth • Provide counseling for students who exhibit any attendance, academic, behavioral or adjustment problems

Sophomore Expectations • Get to know your counselor and let your counselor get to know you ! • Become part of the school community • Join extra-curricular activities (Sports, Clubs, Volunteer) • All 10th grade students take the PSAT/NMSQT on October 13th, as a practice. (Paid by the Brentwood School District) • Begin thinking about your post secondary education and career plans.

Sophomore Expectations • Attend the College Fair (October 27th) to broaden your awareness of possibilities after high school and to learn about what it takes to get into selective colleges. • Research career areas related to your interests by using the resource materials on Naviance. • Do as well as you can in your academics. • Consider taking the SAT, SAT II (Biology, Chemistry, Math Level I) in June.

  7. How do we improve student success? • Positive, open communication between students, parents and school • Good attendance and study habits • Set goals and have a plan of action • Take responsibility and ownership in all your decisions
