  2. Introduction For years, horses have been used as a therapeutic agent to help lift the spirit of those facing disabilities. They are renowned for their benefits in enhancing: • Coordination • Balance • Motor Skills • Concentration • Self-esteem

  3. About the Program Equest is a program offered to individuals who suffer from: • Physical Disabilities • Emotional Disabilities • Learning disabilities

  4. Coordination, Balance, & Motor Skills During therapeutic riding, a person’s body moves in a similar way as it does when walking. The movements the horse makes in a synchronized, repetitive gait: - up & down - side to side - back and forth Improves an individuals: - coordination - balance - muscle tone - head and neck control

  5. Concentration & Self Esteem • Bond between horse and rider motivates the participants • Riders are encouraged to plan and execute sequenced activities • Exercises to learn complex tasks on the horse

  6. Whether on horseback or participating in ground games, equine activities help to promote healing.

  7. Equest’s program includes: • Lessons by an NARHA certified instructor • 7 week long clinics • A therapeutic “fun show” • Applied natural horsemanship methods

  10. Movie Clip Demonstration A video put together by Midwest Therapeutic Riding Program to promote their riding clinic. Equest hopes to soon be able to launch their own.
