  2. Roller Coasters are tons of fun!!! Every kid agrees that Roller Coasters are the best. They are exciting from beginning to end, and are always exhilarating.

The History of the Roller Coaster • Began with ice slides in Russia • In Russia during the 1700’s, wheels were added and the roller coaster was born • They were built because the Russian empress at the time, Catherine the Great, enjoyed them • In 1870 the first U.S roller coaster was built in Pennsylvania • In 1888, LinaBleecher introduced the first under friction roller coaster

Did You Know?... • Below are ten fun and interesting facts about roller coasters • The First “fast” roller coaster was in Coney Island New York • It traveled only 6 miles per hour • The first looping coaster was built in 1888 • Roller coaster construction peaked in the roaring twenties • During the depression, thousands of roller coasters were torn down • Walt Disney made the roller coaster much more popular • Theme parks came into existence around 1970 • The first inverted coaster was created in 1992 • Russia was were the idea of roller coasters began • They were actually ice slides in Russia

  8. Personally, I’m not big on Rollercoasters. In my lifetime I have only been on 2, Boomerang and Boulder dash at Lake Compounce. They were both very fun rides. They were exciting, fast, nauseating, and exhilarating.
