  1. Prezi MSTI 131 Introduction to Educational Technology Fall 2010 Prof. Nichole Heinsler What is a Prezi? Prezi is a web-based presentation application and storytelling tool that uses a single canvas instead of traditional slides. Text, images, videos and other presentation objects are placed on the infinite canvas and grouped together in frames. The canvas allows users to create non-linear presentations, where users can zoom in and out of a visual map. A path through different objects and frames can be defined, representing the order of the information to be presented. The presentation can be developed in a browser window, then downloaded so that an Internet connection is not needed when showing the presentation. Prezi Assignment and Expectations • Prezi Assignment:Students will use the presentation application Prezi to create a “How-To” presentation which will teach something to your audience. Before creating their Prezi however each student must complete a well thought out template which will help focus and guide their presentation. The template categories are listed on the back. It is up to the student how to organize this information but they must bring this with them digitally to class next week. • Once the students are prepared with their template completed we can begin creating their Prezi next week in class. • Your “How-To” presentation must: • Use Grouping to group to assemble common ideas into one general location. • Use Layering to allow for text, fonts, frames, etc. to be showcased appropriately and professionally. • Use Looping and Zooming appropriately to allow for scanning across your Prezi without distracting the audience by being too fast or jerky • Use Graphics appropriately to emphasize the text on your page • Use Text boxes which include the script on the following page • Be linked to the projects page of your Weebly.

  2. Prezi Outline PREZI TOPIC What your Prezi is about, the theme or subject of your talk. CENTRAL IDEA In the thesis statement you describe in one sentence your purpose and topic. How to Greet Them If your audience know who you are, and you are not being introduced, then you have to introduce yourself at this point in your presentation. And tell why you are the best person to teach about this topic. Preview the Main Points Introduce in one sentence the main topics of your Prezi.
