  1. CORIOLANUS This tragedy in five acts in verse and prose of William Shakespeare was written around 1607-1608, represented probably in early 1608 and printed in the folio of 1623.

  2. CHARACTERS • Caius Marcius,Volumnia, Menenio, Tulo Aufidio, Virgilia .

  3. Caius Marcius, because of their prodigies of valor in the war against Volscians and making Corioli City, is nicknamed Coriolanus.

  4. On his return to Rome, the Senate intended to be made consul, but his haughty and contemptuous attitude toward the mob makes him unpopular, and despite the efforts of Menenius Agrippa, the tribunes get their exile.

  5. He goes home from Tulo Aufidius, general Volsci, his bitter enemy, is greeted warmly and made head of the Volscians to take revenge on the Romans.

  6. Coriolanus comes to the city walls and the Romans, to save it from destruction, sent to his angry old friends, fellow citizens, who incite to compromise, but in vain.

  7. Finally the mother of Coriolanus, Volumnia, his wife Virgilia and her son will ask you to save the city. Yields to his entreaties, concluded a treaty favorable to the Volscians and return them to the town of Anzio. 

  8. There the general Volscians accused of having betrayed the interests of this town and, with help from conspirators, makes killing in the public square.
