CTE Model Curriculum Standards • The 15 Industry Sectors and Pathways • Standards for Career Ready Practice • Anchor Standards • The 11 anchor standards build on the Standards for Career Ready Practice • They are called Knowledge and Performance Anchor Standards • They are the same for all industry sectors

Anchor Standards • Anchor Standard 1 guides users to sector-specific core academic standards related to each industry sector which are listed in the alignment matrix at the end of each sector section • Anchor standards 2-10 are deliberately aligned with one of the Common core English language arts standards, using similar language • Anchor standard 11 (Demonstration and Application) highlights classroom, laboratory, and workplace learning specific to the individual sector and pathways

  7. The course is based on the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards • 1. The course is based on the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards and incorporates both the Knowledge and Performance Anchor Standards and the Pathway (content) Standards. • Course must have 4 digit State code between 4000 to 5999 • Knowledge and Performance Anchor Standards and Pathway (content) Standards are identified in course curriculum. • Knowledge and Performance Anchor Standards and Pathway (content) Standards are all taught in the sequence of courses. • http://bit.ly/ctestandardsmap

  8. The courseis integral to aCTE Sequence of Courses • 2. The courseis integral to a CTE sequence of courses and ascribable to one of the fifteen industry sectors and 58 career pathways. (See the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.) • Identified Industry Sector and Career Pathway • Sequence of Courses and Program of Study completed and approved by State • Sequence of Courses is at least 300 hrs. (minimum of 2 courses or 1 two hr. course.)

The course provides students with an understanding of all aspects of the industry in which they are preparing to enter, in addition to theoretical and/or background knowledge about the industry. • Provide approximate hours/days of instruction on Knowledge and Performance Anchor Standards and the Pathway (content) Standards identified in course curriculum.

The teacher: • has a standard secondary, single-subject or designated-subject credential which authorizes the teaching of the CTE course(s) to which s/he is assigned, (a Single Subject, Designated Subject, SS with Subject matter Authorization, New Career Technical Education Credential by industry sector), and • Copy of credential authorizing the teaching of the CTE course

The teacher: • has employment experience, outside of education, in the career pathway addressed by the CTE program or other evidence of equivalent proficiency. • Evidence of employment experience, including some current experience. This can be a letter or other documents that provide evidence.
