October is the month of the Rosary • History: • Before 800 A.D., monks prayed the 150 Psalms of the Bible • But most people could not read, so it was hard for the to pray the Psalms. • Around 800 AD, it was suggested to pray 150 Our Fathers instead of the 150 Psalms • People carried around pebbles or ropes with 150 knots to keep track of their prayers

Another group began combining the Hail Mary prayer with the Our Fathers Later, Our Lady gave St. Dominic the Rosary. • She told him to “preach” the rosary to fight against sin and untruth. • The Rosary contains mysteries that help us meditate on the life of Christ In 2003, Pope John Paul II added the Luminous Mysteries to help us ponder Christ’s public ministry through the eyes of His Mother
