  3. WHAT • A Sanctioned Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) Competition is an event where home brewers can have their beer evaluated by certified beer judges in accordance with the BJCP style guidelines.

  5. Why WHY SHOULD YOU COMPETE • Glory • EDUCATED AND HONEST FEEDBACK • BJCP judges go though a training program that educates them on world beer styles and the technical aspects of brewing

  7. WhERE & WHEN YOU CAN FIND LIST AND DATES OF COMPETITIONS AT THESE TWO SITES • BJCP.org • Breweroftheyear.com Once you find the competition you can go to the club website for a link to their competition site if one isn’t provided by either of these to sites.

HOW How register your entries • Each Competition is different but most use the brewcompetition software. • Again, check the club’s website to see how to enter • It is a good idea to read over the rules of each competition as some vary slightly. For example, some comps need 2 bottles and some need 3 bottles per entry.

  9. How • Once you are logged in you will have a new option in the menu bar called” My info and Entries”, this is where you enter your beers • Click “Add an Entry” to … add an Entry

  10. How • Fill out the required info and hit “Submit Entry”

  11. How • This will take you back and now you can pay your fees and print your bottle labels. • Don’t forget to pay your fees.

  12. How • This is an example of the beer lables, note that it says “ATTACH WITH RUBBER BAND ONLY”, entries will likely be disqualified if this rule is not followed as scraping tape or glue off 300-400 bottles sucks. • Bottle size is also important. • Remove commercial labels.

  13. Shipping • The Yeast Wranglers provide free shipping for most of the major Canadian homebrew competitions and the drop off location is The Vineyard. • We pick a day a week or two before the comp deadline as the cutoff day and pack them shortly after. • Volunteers are appreciated to help pack the entries • The deadline for the LethbridgeWerthogs comp will be February 17 at 5:00pm. Packing will also be that day at the vineyard so please see me if you want to help.
