  1. Dear Parents: For this quarter in FLES class, we will cover the theme of Sports and Hobbies (los deportes y pasatiempos). Your child will learn about: (1) names of sports, (2) name of hobbies, (3) and the date and time for practicing sports. As a culmination to this theme, your child will be asked to create and presenta poster .The presentation will be about his/her favorite sport or hobby using the vocabulary learned in FLES class. This presentation will be started and worked on during class. Please have students finish anything not completed in class and practice their presentation at home. The presentation is due by the end of the second quarter. The question structures below, which will be covered in class, must be included in your child’s presentation. Your child may include more, but these are the minimum requirements. The questions below are provided for your information. Students will bring home their own copy which was filled out in class. Your child will be allowed to use his/her draft when presenting their visual, if desired. The following are the questions covered in class and needed for the presentation: QUESTIONS: • Deportes/sports: ¿Cuál es tu deporte favorito? Mi deporte favorito es _________. Which is your favorite sport? My favorite sport is ____________________. • Pasatiempos/hobbies: ¿ Cuál es tu pasatiempo favorito? • Mi pasatiempo favorito es______________________? Which is your favorite hobby? My favorite hobby is ____________________. • Time/Tiempo: ¿Cuándo juegas al baloncesto? Yo juego al baloncesto el lunes. ¿A qué hora juegas al baloncesto? Yo juego al baloncesto a las 5 en punto de la tarde. When do you play basketball? I play basketball on Monday. At what time do you play basketball? I play basketball at 5 o’clock in the afternoon.

  3. PROYECTO • SPORTS AND HOBBIES • Student Instructions • Purpose: You will use “Sports and Hobbies” vocabulary and grammar to tell about your favorite sport or hobby. You will respond questions about your favorite sport, hobby and day/time for each one. • Objectives: Students will create and give a presentation using learned Spanish grammar and vocabulary on “sports and hobbies”. • Task: You will create a presentation of your SPORT or HOBBY. A Power -point presentation, poster, or video will be used as a tool when you present to the class about your DEPORTE or PASATIEMPO (Sport or Hobby). • The following 3 categories and the questions below them must be covered in your presentation. The presentation can be no longer than 3 minutes. You may include more, but the minimum requirements are as follows: • QUESTIONS: • Deportes/sports: ¿Cuál es tu deporte favorito? Mi deportefavoritoes_______.What is your favorite sport? My favorite sport is ____________. • Pasatiempos/hobbies: ¿Cuál es tu pasatiempo favorito? Mi pasatiempo favorito es ____. • What is your favorite hobby? My favorite hobby is __________. • Time/Tiempo: ¿Cuándo juegas al baloncesto? I play basketball at 5 o’clock in the afternoon. • Project: You cannot start creating your poster, Power-point, or video until the teacher has checked your answers for any mistakes. • Student Learning Assessment: Students will be assessed on their speaking and presentational skills .
