  1. Greetings from Bellingham!

  2. Dear Mom and Dad, Hello! We arrived in Bellingham late today. I didn’t realize that Bellingham was so close to Canada. We are only 20 miles from the British Columbia border! Tomorrow will we do some sight seeing and then we will be taking a late afternoon ferry to Orcas Island. The plan is to tour Western Washington University early in the morning since several of us are thinking that might be one of our college choices. Then we are going to rent mountain bikes and ride the Interurban Trail that stretches from north Bellingham to scenic Chuckanut Drive. Bellingham really is beautiful with sparkling Puget Sound and Mount Baker towering in the distance. This has been a great trip! Love, Lenore

  3. Dear Mom and Dad, Hello from Orcas Island. We arrived yesterday evening and had a full day of activities today. We will be leaving for the Olympic Peninsula first thing in the morning. As you know, Orcas is one of the San Juan Islands. When we came into the ferry terminal the kayak tour company met us at the dock and took us to the hotel. Today we got up early and headed out onto Puget Sound. We saw porpoises, harbor seals, and sea loins. We had a naturalist with us who was able to tell us so much about all the marine wildlife that we saw. The highlight of the tour was seeing a pod of whales. They are so majestic! They came right up alongside our kayaks and were breeching and spouting. Today has been an adventure that I will never forget. I took lots of pictures that I will try to post on Facebook tonight. Thanks for letting me go on this trip! Love, Lenore
