Plan for the day • Introduce ourselves – Begin a personal and working relationship • Provide an overview of Grants and Development Services • Outline roles and responsibilities of Grants and Development Services and district grant writers • Introduce the services available on the portal • Learn from you how we can best be of service • Begin to plan with you for ongoing development of training and support services

  4. Services from Grants and Development • Find and write grants • Train staff and support grant writing efforts of 259 staff • Coordinate grant writing efforts in the district • Support and assist with grant implementation • Assist with grants management

Guiding thoughts on our partnership • YOU – have a demanding job description, priorities and pressures • YOU – know your subject, school, needs, and students • WE – know grant writing • WE – know broad trends and factors affecting fundability • TOGETHER – we can build and fund resources for our students

Find and Write Grants – Grants and Development Services will write: • Large federal grants • District-wide grants • Grants in partnership with the community • Factors limiting grant writing capacity • Can’t write all grants for district • Can’t be familiar with all grant subjects • Can’t assume, presume or impose on a school program, staffing or budget

  7. Train Staff and Support Grant Writing in District • Provide training for 259 staff • Large, formal trainings • Small, frequent mini-trainings • On-site TEAM training • Provide ongoing support • Monitor grant opportunities and inform staff • Help link you to grant announcements • Route opportunities to interested staff • Maintain list of projects and priorities – Conduct searches on a limited basis • Maintain lists and links on the Portal

Train Staff and Support Grant Writing in District • Provide ongoing support (Continued) • Provide consultation • “I need a sounding board.” • “What kind of grant do I need?” • “Where can I find money?” • “How do I approach a project like this?” • Whatever else you might need. • Help develop a local needs assessment • What do I need to assess? • How do I do it?

Train Staff and Support Grant Writing in District • Provide ongoing support (Continued) • Help interpret an RFP and plan the grant writing process • Assist with grant writing process • Help establish compelling need • Help design a fundable project • Help devise a workable management plan • Help develop a fitting evaluation • Help develop a budget • Help with those pesky forms

Train Staff and Support Grant Writing in District • Provide ongoing support (Continued) • Facilitate grant writing process • Within your school among staff and departments • Including building and motivating a team • In collaborations among schools and/or community partners • Provide feedback on drafts (with stipulations) • Review and comment on drafts • Review applications • Other stuff • Ask us – we’ll see what we can do
