The Prince Aeneas comes close to death at Diomedes’ hands. Ares joins the battle fighting beside Hector. Achilles and Agamemnon quarrel over the captive Briseis.

  3. Patroclus disguised as Achilles leads the dreaded Myrmidons. Hector battles Achilles. Priam journeys to Achilles’ tent.
