  3. MNH Status in Kenya Population: Estimated at 40m Women of childbearing age: 9.6m MMR: 488/100,000 live births (2008-09) IMR: 52/1000 live births from 77/1000 live births in 2003 U5MR 74/1000 live births from 115 in 2003 Skilled birth attendance: 44% ? Quality ANC 92%- once, 47%- 4 times

  5. MNH Status in Kenya • Unmet need for FP: 26% • Adolescents and youth: 30% • 18% of young women age 15-19 have begun childbearing • 21% of women have suffered sexual violence • Provision of youth-friendly services still a great challenge

Priority interventions • From current reports, health systems strengthening is crucial but while we wait for this to happen the priority interventions identified include, • Trainings • Provision of equipment and supplies • Scaling up of the HIIs at all levels • Supportive supervision 5.
