  18. New Rules: VHBA • Tiering–– this year there will be no tiering at any level of play (League decision) – will be decided on a yearly basis based on numbers • Team Rosters- Must be developed and submitted to the VHBA by January 15th. Any changes after that date must be presented to and approved by the Board.

  19. New Rules: VHBA • Call ups –Players can be called up from lower levels as needed, but lateral call-ups will not be permitted except at Jr. Mini (no lower level teams to draw from.) • Playoffs – All players must be on the team roster and have played a minimum of 5 games in the regular season to qualify to play in playoffs (serious injury is an exception).

  20. New Rules: VHBA • Bantam Equal Play –Bantam will now have equal time for the first ¾ of the game. • They will have 6- four minute shifts where players are expected to play equal time. • The last 8 minutes of the game, playing time is at the discretion of the coach.

  21. New Rules: VHBA • Net Height at Mini –Controversy re: whether height of nets for Mini players will be 8’6” (as currently) or 10” (Bantam height) • Decision has not yet been made (will be decided at BNS Meeting on October 20th ). • Update will be provided as soon as we receive confirmation • Probably will be 10’ height so would start transitioning to this now.

  22. Expectations • Respect during games. Remember: • This is a GAME • These are KIDS • Coaches are VOLUNTEERS • Refs are HUMAN • No one is an NBA player • New Fan Abuse Policy – if fans are not being respectful they will receive 1 warning before being asked to leave the gym

  23. Expectations • Practices are mandatory • Learning happens at practices not during games • Absences will happen but if they are repeated, players will have game privileges revoked • If you are unable to attend practices or games you MUST let the team manager know

  24. Expectations • Behaviour • As a player you represent the Kings Minor Basketball Association • If players are exhibiting behaviors that are not acceptable while representing KMBA at games/ tournaments, playing privileges will be revoked and depending on the severity of the infraction may be removed from the team

  25. Expectations • Respect for Schools & School Property • We have been given the privilege of using the Coldbrook, Somerset and Berwick Schools • It is expected that players, parents and siblings will respect all guidelines that they have set • All “school rules” will be outlined on the website and will be reviewed during your coaches team meeting
