  2. Define Sovereigntyand give an example of a sovereign country and one that is not • The ability of a nation to make decisions both within its country and with foreign countries on it’s own. • USA – Not: Palestine, Puerto Rico

  3. What is the name for a country’s leader who acquired their position through hereditary AND who does not share power with anyone or any group. • What is an Absolute Monarch. Now give an example of an absolute monarch. • Louis XIV, Henry VIII (possibly Kim Jong UN of North Korea)

  4. This is a country ruled by a group of military generals • What is a Junta? • What is a country that had a junta which we studied? • Egypt!

  5. This Theory says that God gave certain people the right to rule. • What is Divine Right theory. Now give an example of a Divine Right monarch. • Louis XIV

  6. It is the clear boundaries or borders of a country • What is territory. • Follow – up. What is the country with the largest territory? • Russia!

  7. This is a type of theory that says that people form an agreement with those who rule. Often times this agreement is called a Constitution. What type of theory is this? • What is Social Contract Theory. Give an example of a government using social contracts? • USA!
