  2. CAMPUS GROWTH in 1974 there were 17,244 students on campus in 1974 the campus was 210,000 m2 in 2010 there are almost 40,000students on campus in 2010 the campus has grown to 550,000 m2 in 1993 there were 25,106 students on campus • in 1993 the campus was 360,000 m2

  3. WASTE DIVERSION TIMELINE

  4. 1990-1991 campus population: 24,317 introduction of desk side recycling

  5. 1994-1995 vermi-composting pilot spread of recycling on campus

  6. 1995-1996 e-waste Recycling started centralized pick-up of recycling bins

  7. 1999-2000 skids scrap metals

  8. 2004-2005 campus population: 31,439 large-scale recycling in residences

  9. 2006-2007 campus population: 34,381 SFUO goes green environmental clubs and campaigns

  10. 2007-2008 first waste diversion and recycling coordinator dump and run free store

  11. 2008-2009 recycling reform 50% waste diversion composting in residences recycle mania 100 + new recycling counters

  12. 2009-2010 campus population: 37,992 electric composter furniture recycling program $ 420,000 in offset costs

  13. 2010-2011 zero waste by 2020 (strategic goal) eliminate public waste bins small desk-side waste bin initiative campus community projects (class, CWY and Katimavik)

  18. MOVE OUT AND OFFICE SUPPLIES Dump and Run area to drop stuff start an exchange centre for ‘stuff’ student union service with the Food Bank

  19. C & D WASTE follow-up on waste diversion rates for all projects require that they divert 60% C & D recycling site on campus

  20. FOOD RELATED(SOURCES ON CAMPUS) packaging (take-out foods) coffee cups cutlery packaging (receiving)

  21. FOOD RELATED(SOURCED OFF CAMPUS) AND OTHER PLASTICS take-out food packaging and cutlery candy wrappers disposable coffee cups other plastic types (#3,4,6) furniture pieces gum NON-RECYCLABLE PLASTICS (7%)

  22. COMMUNICATIONS getting to that Ø waste university community help (internal/external) people have great ideas creating more Eco Champions and Green Reps
