COOPERATION WITH ZRINYI ILONA GIMNÁZIUM AND AVASI GIMNÁZIUM • Cooperation with Zrinyi Ilona since 1984 • Both schools are UNESCO schools • Choir visits to and from Miskolc and Tampere • Other study visits • Individual student exchanges • Teacher exchanges on reciprocal basis • Student teacher placements in Miskolc Jari Aarnio, Tampereen normaalikoulu

EU’s Socrates/Comenius programmes • three-year projects • at least three participating schools one being the coordinating school • application for each year nationally • reporting each year nationally • Advantages • financial support (1500 € partner, 2000 € coordinator) • structure, credibility and official nature • long term planning • possibilities for annual planning conferences Jari Aarnio, Tampereen normaalikoulu

  4. International project work • the theme should be wide enough to encourage as many subjects as possible to join in • umbrella theme with subprojects • students are active agents, teachers are coaches or mentors • project website but also face to face work • students learn new skills: communicate and work with students from different cultural backgrounds=intercultural learning • increases European dimension • can change the school curriculum Jari Aarnio, Tampereen normaalikoulu
