Health Education • 5th Health – Ms. Interrante • Character Education • Nutrition • Introduction to Puberty Education • Personal Hygiene • 6th Health – Mrs. Sirchie • Bullying Prevention (Project Based) • 7th Health - Ms. Interrante • Body Systems • Puberty & Reproduction • First Aid • 8thHealth – Ms. Interrante • Human Sexuality • Society, cultural, emotional and physical intimacy, human reproduction including STD’s, birth, birth control, gender identity. • 5 culminating projects.

  3. Physical Education • Mr. Flack (5, 6, 8) Receives PE about 4 weeks everyday. • Mr. Hogentogler (5, 6, 8) 1 block • Mrs. Sirchie (5, 6, 7) • Grade 7 & 8 must change into district uniform (blue shorts, white shirt and sneakers) Sweats are permitted. • Grades 5 & 6 must wear clothing to permit movement and sneakers. • Sportsmanship, cooperation, participation, team building, decision making and respect for others are strictly followed. • Teaching motor skills are done through the following activities: • Football, Soccer, Field Hockey, Street Hockey, Frisbee football, Speedball, Pillow Polo, Scooters, Volleyball, Basketball, Whiffle Ball, Lacrosse, Golf, Ballroom dancing and many other cooperative learning activities. In addition, Yoga, Pilates, Aerobics, Step, Mountain Biking, Circuit Training. • Activities will meet Pennsylvania State Standards.

Music Department • Mrs. Blum - Band and Orchestra • Mrs. Laskey – Choir and General Music • Mr. Norton – General Music • Every student in a performing ensemble will have one 42 minute lesson per week • We serve the community by performing at many different events throughout the year • All students will have 2 general music classes throughout the year. Students will perform on keyboards, guitars and various percussion instruments. They will also learn about a few of music’s most notable composers and performers and their connection to current music. • Music lessons will meet the objectives of the NASD curriculum and adhere to the PA state standards.

Students will learn to apply knowledge, academics, problem solving skills and personal skills to creatively design and engineer solutions to various technological problems.

COMPUTER SCIENCE- Ms. Doheny The goal of this class is to tie learning from content areas into Computer Science: 5th grade: Students are learning how to touch type and basic skills in MS PowerPoint 7th grade: A more complex tour of MS Excel: creating tables, charts and graphs. Researching our “Heros” and creating a PowerPoint to present to the class 8th grade: Careers/Education opportunities after High School and also an introduction to Personal Finance and banking
