  2. Conclusions From December 2013 Project Meeting • 2nd run of 2013 not very lucky: • Problem with CALIFES cathode plug-in • TWTs availability (from 2 ½ to 2, to 1…) – hope to be solved • Delays in hardware components (in dogleg and feed-forward exp.) • Some issues on klystron availability, operation manpower, infrastructure) • However, good progresses in stability, repeatability, operational software, optics & procedures (not covered here)… • Future schedule agreed upon, hardware problems on the way to be solved - will restart fast after the short Christmas break, all ready for an exciting 2014!

  3. Status of last year issues • CALIFES: Fast successful repair, during winter short shut-down • TWTs: 1 New one, from new supplier, 2 repaired. Now we have 3 fully operational + one spare. Ordering a second one from Poland. All 3 are working stably since January. • Dogleg experiment: all hardware installed – start scheduled in summer • Feed-forward experiment: amplifiers expected for Easter, all other hardware ready (will also receive two new phase monitors during 2014 – can start with present one only, and monitor phase in PETSs) • Klystron availability: very good progress • Operation manpower – still a bottleneck, but… • An exciting 2014 has started!

  4. Run 1 – summary until now 30 Jan first beam from gun 17 Feb first beam in spectrometer 10 (3 GHz) 18 Feb first 3 GHz beam in CR, first 1.5 GHz beam in linac 19 Feb first CALIFES beam 21 Feb first 1.5 GHz beam to CR 24 Feb first combination 4 beam (1.5 GHz with phase switches) 26 Feb 14 A (factor 4) extracted from CR 27 Feb first beam in CLEX (uncombined) 4 Mar first beam (3 GHz) to – and through – DL 5 Mar full combination factor 2 in DL (7 A) 13 Mar beam (uncombined) end of TBL / 3 GHz factor 4 optimized, 16 A 19 Mar first drive beam to TBTS for Uppsala beam tests (factors 1 to 4) 21 Mar first factor 8 recombination ~ 20 A 25 Mar good factor 8, ~ 25 A ~1% stability 9 Apr transport to TBTS, > 20 A

  5. Status – 26 A in CR (factor 8)

  6. Status – 26 A in CR (factor 8)

  7. Status ~ 23 A through TBTS

  8. Stability – Feedbacks • Gun current feedback (plus flattening on request) • RF compression system temperature (local + global) • Local RF phase feedback on each klystron • Injector feedback (MKS 2 and 3) • RF amplitude flattening feedback • Beam loading feed-back (MKS 5 to 15) • TWTsfeeback (extension of injector feedback) • Energy feedback + energy flattening feedback (MKS15) • Flattening of BPR 475… A. Andersson, A. Dubrowski, T. Persson, P. Skowronski, L. Malina, D. Gamba…

  9. Trips MKS02 & MKS 15 D. Gamba Stop energy flattening and BPR 475 BPR 475 flattening feedback Disable MKS15 loading fb and inj. fb energy flattening feedback (MKS15)

  10. Emittance & optics – TL2 • Still large Horemittance • Vertemittance small • Suspect error in MTV 253 scan (calibration?) • Stable Twiss parameters & optics in TL2 P. Skowronski, T. Persson
