  8. PCBs in Caulk Project Timeline • 2007: Project started • Grant funding received (Prop 50) • 2008-09: Bond freeze – on hold • 2010 • Transition to ARRA (stimulus) funding • Restart, develop draft materials • 2011 • Implementation trials • Project completion in December

Project Deliverables • Sampling • Analyze caulk from 10 Bay Area buildings • Estimate PCB loadings to Bay from structures • BMPs and Implementation Process • Draft and incorporate stakeholder input • Model ordinance/policy and staff report • Training materials • Implementation trials • 5 trials in Bay Area buildings undergoing renovation/demo

  10. Grant Funding Details • Project budget $450,000 (fully allocated): • Sampling: gather Bay Area data • Develop BMPs and implementation process • Stakeholder meetings, implementation trials • Municipal partners investing time (“match”) • Identifying trial sites and coordination • No funding for cleanup/assistance, etc.

  11. Project Completion • Deliverables submitted to State Water Board by Dec 2011 • Funding expended by Dec 2011 • After grant support ends • Assessment of pilot effort informs next steps by Water Boards and municipalities
