  1. About Teen Suicide The reason behind a teen’s suicide can be complex. Although sometimes it might be rare that suicidal problems occur to children but that rate attempts to increase tremendously during adolescence. Suicide is the third-leading cause of death for 15- to 24-years-olds, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) after accidents happen. The risk of suicide increases dramatically when kids and teens have access to guns, knifes or anything that might take ones life away, and nearly 60% of all suicides in the united states are committed with a gun. That’s why any types of items that causes damage should be kept out of the reach of children and teens. Another things that teens might use are medications. Medications are one of the most common things teens mix together to make self inside damage so it can be less painful. Suicide rates are different from boys and girls. Girls think about and attempt suicide about twice as much as girls, and tend to attempt it by overdosing on drugs or cutting themselves. Yet boys die by suicide about four times as often as girls do, because they tend to do lethal methods such as hanging themselves, or jumping from heights.

  2. Which teens are at risk for suicide It can be hard to remember how it feels to be a teen, caught in a gray area between childhood and adulthood. Sure, it is a stage of having fun and living your life it can also be a period of stress and worry. There’s pressure to fit in socially, to perform academically, and to act responsibly. Adolescence is also a time of sexual identity and relationships and a need for independence that often conflicts with the rules and expectations of others. Teens with mental health problems – such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or insomnia are at a higher risk for suicidal thoughts. Teens also that go through major life changes like parents getting divorce, moving to different environment, and those who are victims of bullying are at greater risk of suicidal thoughts. If teens are feeling hopelessness(feeling like things are bad and wont get any better), helplessness( a belief that there’s nothing that can make like better), extreme sadness or loneliness, anxiety or worry, self-hate, guilt, or shame they might be coming to a point of feeling like not living in this world and committee suicide not thinking things straight.

  3. Signs and symptoms of suicide It is extremely important that you take all threats of suicide seriously and seek immediate treatment for the teenager. Suicide among teens often occurs following stressful life events, a breakup or even a death of a family member. The signs for committing suicide are making suicide statements, have conversations of death and asking questions on how to do it, having aggressive behavior, running away from home, or also a change in their personality. For example if a love one of yours is having a normal conversation and out of no where he or she asks you what you think of other tens committing suicide they might be at risk or having thoughts about that and 95% chance they are going to attempt doing it. Certain problems increase the chances of suicidal thoughts in teens. Other problems may trigger a suicide attempt. Problems that increase the chances of suicidal thoughts include having a parent being abusive towards them, a sexual abuse or a history of being bullied, or seeing a parent dealing with drugs and then try to take control or abuse them or a love that might make them think that if the special persons in their life are falling what’s the point of still living.

  4. What can parents do ? Many teens who are attempted to committee suicide tend to give out warnings to loved ones ahead of time. Some adults think that teen who say that they are going to hurt themselves or kill themselves are just doing it for attention, but its important that parents keep a close eye on them because if they are ignored it may increase the chance of harming themselves. When parents come to a point that their teenager is having those thought its time to put everything aside and focus 100% on them to watch every move they do to make sure they are not going to cause any harm to themselves. Parents should try to convince them to take therapy and have a doctor talk to them so the thought can go away. Another way that a teen can be controlled is giving them medication that makes get tired that way they can fall asleep and be more relaxed so they wont have stress in them

  5. How to prevent suicide You can prevent suicide by being social and asking for help. When a teen comes to a point that they depress the best things for parents to do is talk to them and try to understand the situation they are dealing with so they can be aware and change their point of view. Teenagers mentality is very hard to understand and maintain it good so when a teen is having suicidal thought its better for them to put them aside and distract themselves with something else.
