  2. Almost every child likes to draw. When I was a child, I drew with crayons, built with playdough and that drove my mom crazy. “Put that crayon down this moment…how many times I’ve told you not to draw on the kitchen wall!”

  3. My favourite class in elementary school was fine arts. I always spent more time than my classmates to work on my “art work”. As a six year old, I sure was proud of the master pieces that I produced. My teachers told me, “You are a great artist!”

  4. My parents saw my enthusiasm in fine arts and decided to put me in classes. That decision lead to a decade of love-hate relationship between art and I. ““It doesn’t matter if you are “good” or not, as long as YOU like it!”.Quoted from Beth, a 12 year old artist. Flower Trio, by Beth

  5. I took lessons in water painting, pencil sketching, and oil painting with two art mentors. I thought to myself, “I will be an artist when I grow up.”

  6. And I painted, drew, sculpted…

  7. Henri Matisse:“Drawing is like making an expressive gesture with the advantage of permanence.” I found peace when I was making art. I was delighted in what I created and I felt that I could express my inner self through what I produced. Georgia O’Keeffe:“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”

  8. After being very much involved in fine arts for several years, I felt that the artist in me disappeared. I had no more desire to pick up the paint brush or make pencil sketches. My mentors said that I was trying too hard, “You need to relax and allow your creativity flows through you. Let the images come to you!”

  9. I stopped making art after I entered university. The artist seemed to have left me. I was too busy dealing with the academics and life as it was, and did not give her the attention that she needed. However, I did miss her once in a while. A few years later, I stepped into my classroom for the first time, and I found…

  10. HER! I saw many eager young faces in front of me and I decided to become an artist again.
