  5. Which are the most popular stations? • Listening figures for quarter 4 of 1998 were released in February 1999. Here's a graph showing results for the London stations for the quarters 2 and 4 in 1998. The stations are in descending order based on quarter 4's results.

  6. This graph shows "share of listening" - the share of the total radio listening within the station's target geography for each radio station • Heart, Virgin and Capital Gold, towards the middle of the chart, have all lost listeners. Capital Gold Kent's listening has dropped from 3 to 1.6%. Note that 107.8 FM Thames Radio were not included in the quarter 2 survey so there is no yellow bar for them. XFM, owned by Capital, is another station that has lost listeners. • From the graph you can tell that in comparison to radio 4 that it has a much lower target audience than capital FM and radio 2 . However this is taken from a piece carried out in 1998 so the data is unreliable.

  7. Radio 2 – facts and figures • Radio 2 is the most popular radio station in the uk • Much of its daytime playlist-based programming is best described as Adult Contemporary or AOR, although the station is also noted for its specialist broadcasting of other musical genres • The station's programming is broadcast on a network of FM transmitters of up to 250 kW, the strongest FM signals in the EU.[2]

  8. Radio 2 general knowledge In comparison to radio 4 : It is owned by the the government similarly to radio 4 It plays music and had more of a chatty atmosphere in comparison to radio 4 . It does not have radio dramas. Radio 2 reaches a very different audience to radio 4 , it attracts more younger listeners. In 2009 Radio 2 again won the Music Week Award for National Radio Station of the Year, an award it has won for several consecutive years. Weekday evenings feature specialist music, including jazz, folk music , blues, country and western, reggae, classic rock, show tunes , and biographies and documentaries on musical artists and genres. Its all these genres that makes the station so accessible, because it attracts all types of people.

  9. Radio 2 .. Radio 2 reaches such a wide audience, it has over 3000 more viewers than radio 4 and just over 5000 more than capital fm. One of the reasons for this could be that they have shows that bring their listeners back to their youth. (Brian Matthews Sounds of the Sixties" remains a regular fixture on the Saturday schedule, as does Johnnie Walker’s "Sounds of the Seventies" on a Sunday. ) The BBC does not broadcast commercials
