  3. My expectations of you:(in Syllabus) • Enjoy this class and do your best! • Respect is mandatory! • All materials must be brought to class every day. This includes the textbook, workbook, composition notebook, pens or pencils and a binder designated for German. This binder should include all semester materials, handouts and papers. Any materials that are lost must be replaced but you will lose participation points each time an item must be reprinted.

  4. Lernziel: Syllabus and my expectations of you in class Put your name in your textbook and your Grammatikheft! Materials: • KommMit! 3 (Textbuch) • 1.5 or 2 inch 3-ring binder (you will get a lot of handouts!!) • Notebook/Spiral for vocabulary (3-hole punched) • Attendance: • TARDIES: I will pay close attention to tardies (3 tardies= detention) • EXCUSED ABSENCES: STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL WORK MISSED DURING THEIR ABSENCE. Refer to your homework calendar and/or a friend, email me: akremer@d155.org • UNEXCUSED ABSENCES: Make-up work may not be accepted for any unexcused absences.

  5. Toilleten und Schließfach Passes • Restrooms/Lockers: You are expected to come to class prepared and ready to work. If you abuse restroom privileges they will be revoked

  6. Wolf Grades Not an option!! Summative Grades– 80% Homework and formative assessments – 20%

  7. Whats different about German III: • Homework will be short and relatively easy. It will not be assigned often. Your primary homework assignment is to study vocabulary. Our curriculum does not allow for much “vocabulary game” time. • I will accept homework up until the one week prior to the end of the grading period for full credit. It is your responsibility to check my website for homework you may have missed. • Classroom work/formative assessment may be completed at home as well

  8. Beteiligungspunkte (Participation Points) • It is expected that you will speak German as much as possible in the classroom. Be engaged in the German language as much as possible. Mistakes are an important part of learning. We all make them. Do not be afraid of them, use them to improve.

  9. Extra Help / Hilfe Help in German: Students that require help to improve their German performance will have a multitude of options to improve their understanding and their overall grade. • Herr Kremer is available for help every school day during his office hour to help assist you. Point redemption may be available in order to master tests and quizzes. You must see Herr Kremer outside of class to pursue this.

  10. Copying, Cell Phones, MP3 Player • Copying: Copying on tests, quizzes or homework will result in an automatic 0. The administration and parents will be notified. • Cell Phones / MP3 Players: must be kept OFF once in the classroom. Texting, calling, and gaming during class will result in confiscation of device.

  12. Honors Credit • Deutsch III is an honors class and comes with an extra credit weight for your grade. • (.5) credit weight will be added to your overrall grade • Extra weight means extra responsibility (Readings, projects, tests)

  15. How can studying a world language in high school help you when you are in college? Earn College Credit Save time & money MOST COLLEGES have a world language entrance requirement. and a graduation requirement for world language -- usually 4 semesters. You could receive about 8-16 credits if you study a world language for 4 years at Prairie Ridge. Save $3,000 - $20,000 in tuition

  16. Taking a language in high school will help you on your way through college… Earn College Credit Take the world language college placement test to earn college credit. (AP or CLEP) Entering college as a freshman with as many as 16 credits in world language gives you priority in registering for classes. World language credits may be accepted as general education.
