  2. Precipitation Precipitation is water released from clouds in the form of rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow, or hail. It is the primary connection in the water cycle that provides for the delivery of atmospheric water to the Earth. Most precipitation falls as rain.

  3. Condensation • Condensation is the process by which water vapor in the air is changed into liquid water.

  4. Evaporation • Evaporation is the process by which water changes from a liquid to a gas or vapor.

  5. Run-Off • Many people probably have an overly-simplified idea that precipitation falls on the land, flows overland (runoff), and runs into rivers, which then empty into the oceans. That is "overly simplified" because rivers also gain and lose water to the ground..

  6. Facts The Earth's water supply is made up of: 97% oceans, 2% Icecaps/Glaciers, 1% Fresh Ground Water. In 20 minutes, one thunderstorm can send down over 125,000,000 gallons of water!

  7. Facts • Water is composed of two elements, Hydrogen and Oxygen. 2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen = H2O. • 75% of the human brain is water and 75% of a living tree is water. • Water expands by 9% when it freezes. Frozen water (ice) is lighter than water, which is why ice floats in water.

  8. Facts • Water is essential to our planet's life and without it nothing could survive. The globe is two-thirds covered by water, but 93% is ocean water, toxic to humans, plants and animals. • About two-thirds of your body is made up of water. • Water is the only thing that can be a gas, liquid, and a solid
