  1. ACTION PLAN Improving Teaching GEOMETRY in Primary school HASINAVALONA Lova Arivelo TEACHER TRAINER In Mathematics, Science and Technology Regional Center of the National Institute of Pedagogical Training Manjakandriana MADAGASCAR

  2. CONTENTS • OBJECTIVES • REASON • AIM • STACKHOLDER GROUP • PROBLEM ANALYSIS • OBJECTIVES ANALYSIS • PROJECT DESIGN MATRIX • PLAN OF OPERATION • OPERATION MAP

  3. OBJECTIVES • The primary teacher should acquire the pedagogical content knowledge related to the teaching/learning Geometry in primary school • The children acquire the appropriate content knowledge in Geometry

  4. REASON • GEOMETRICAL KNOWLEDGE IS VERY LOW • STUDENTS CAN NOT APPROVE GEOMETRICAL DAILY LIFE OPPORTUNITY

  5. THE AIM • To put forwards activities designed to encourage reflection on how mathematical knowledge is generated and how it is developed, taking into account the process of working towards a new mathematical culture

  6. STACKHOLDER GROUP

  7. PROBLEM ANALYSIS

  8. OBJECTIVES ANALYSIS

  9. PROJECT DESIGN MATRIX

  10. PLAN of OPERATION

  11. ORIGAMI • Rectangular paper • Pythagorean triangle • Dividing a line segment using no tools • Trisecting a line segment • Intrasquares and extrasquares • Calculate area • Origamics logo

  12. HANDS-ON Method In French “La main a la Pate”, Hands-on method is already introduced in Malagasy educational system, but not yet exploited. Many teacher ignore his using. To follow Situational Approach, we need to refresh Hands-On or “La Main a la Pate” Method.
