  2. The Basics • Builds capacity for districts and schools to improve student achievement through the use of the continuous improvement models • School and Districts Being Served in 2008-09 • Schools – 102 schools; 45 elementary, 25 middle, 32 high schools • Districts – 53

  3. Eligibility Criteria • In a Federal Step of Improvement • State funds support improvement services and include schools that do not receive Federal Title I funds • Voluntary with 80% staff approval Selection is based on a combination of criteria including the number of AYP cells not met and the numbers of students with low performance.

School Improvement • School Improvement Facilitator • School Performance Review (educational audit) • Resources for collaborative time and professional development • School Improvement Process Guide and online tool • Support for School Improvement Leadership Team plan development, implementation and sustainability District Improvement • District Improvement Facilitator • School System Resource Guide • Technical Assistance • Limited grant money • Support in the development and implementation of the District Improvement Plan

  5. Where Are We Headed? Summit District Improvement Initiative (SDII) • Increase the capacity of participating districts to accelerate achievement for all students across the district system of schools. • Develop and field test Summit Initiative program elements intended to strengthen and expand the knowledge base, tools, and training of WA educators in support of a systems approach that can, with sufficient funding, be scaled statewide.

Adams, Wapato, Mt. Vernon and Renton • Cohort II: Sunnyside, Tukwila and Clover Park
